My Most Anticipated Films: August 2014
A late entry for August, time flies by when you're not having fun and are working so much.
What is it about? The third installment of the action-adventure franchise that follows the exploits of Barney Ross, Lee Christmas, and their associates.
When is it released? Thursday 14th August
Why I'm looking forward to it? The Expendables are the opposite of what I usually look for, great story and striking cinematography. But there's something about the escapist pure action high adrenaline fun of these films that make them so watchable.
What is it about? Lucy is set in a world that is run by the mob, street gangs, drug addicts, and corrupt cops. Lucy (Scarlett Johansson), a woman living in Taipei, Taiwan, is forced to work as a drug mule for the mob. The drug implanted in her body inadvertently leaks into her system, changing her into a superhuman, due to accessing much more than the normal 10% of her brain capacity. She can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind, and cannot feel pain and other discomforts.
When is it released? Friday 22nd August
Why I'm looking forward to it? Scarlett Johansson is starting to hold her own as an action girl in a world dominated by Angelina Jolie & Michelle Rodriguez, and the idea of this film is different and exciting.
Other films worth mentioning that look pretty good are Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For, and Million Dollar Arm.
Planes 2: Fire & Rescue

A new comedy-adventure about second chances, featuring a dynamic crew of elite firefighting aircraft devoted to protecting historic Piston Peak National Park from raging wildfire. When world famous air racer Dusty (voice of Dane Cook) learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his courageous team, including spirited super scooper Dipper (voice of Julie Bowen), heavy-lift helicopter Windlifter, ex-military transport Cabbie and a lively bunch of brave all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero. Directed by Bobs Gannaway ("Secret of the Wings").

Why I'm looking forward to it? I do love a good Disney film, and this one looks like it has enough story and good enough animation to be good.
