I did love Season 3, don't get me wrong. But I think it's where Grey's began to lose it's way slightly. Meredith's suicidal actions were difficult to get out of, it was the start of the whole Izzie & George relationship that should never have happened, and things like this just caused the show to drag a little. Thankfully they resolved these issues, and thankfully, it was the last of Preston Burke as a regular!
