My Most Anticipated Films: June 2014

Summer has kicked off! Summer brings the big guns of Movies. So which ones am I looking forward to? June appears to me, in the UK at least to be a quiet month for blockbusters, but what is the cream of the crop?

Also a new feature, just for funsies; some box office predictions for my anticipated films

The Fault In Our Stars

What is it about? Hazel (Shailene Woodley) and Gus (Ansel Elgort) are two extraordinary teenagers who share an acerbic wit, a disdain for the conventional, and a love that sweeps them -- and us -- on an unforgettable journey. Their relationship is all the more miraculous, given that they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. THE FAULT IN OUR STARS, based upon the number-one bestselling novel by John Green, explores the funny, thrilling and tragic business of being alive and in love.
When is it released? Thursday 19th June
Why I'm looking forward to it? This could possibly be the most beautiful film of the summer. I do love quirky comedies, particularly ones with a story that appears as beautiful and heart-warming as this. The two main cast members Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort appear perfect for their roles, and up and coming director Josh Boone appears to have made it strikingly beautiful.

Jersey Boys

What is it about? The film tells the story of four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic 1960s rock group The Four Seasons. The story of their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the songs that influenced a generation, including "Sherry," "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Walk Like a Man," "Dawn," "Rag Doll," "Bye Bye Baby," "Who Loves You," and many more.
When is it released? Friday 20th June
Why I'm looking forward to it? Clint Eastwood is quickly becoming one of my favourite directors after seeing Gran Torino, Changeling and Invictus, but also it seems like a great rags to riches comedy with some incredible acting performances. Eastwood will give us a beautiful looking film with a great story, and I hope the cast will help bring that to life.

Belle

What is it about? Belle is inspired by the true story of Dido Elizebeth Belle (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), the illegitimate mixed race daughter of a Royal Navy Admiral. Raised by her aristocratic great-uncle Lord Mansfield (Tom Wilkinson) and his wife (Emily Watson), Belle's lineage affords her certain privileges, yet the color of her skin prevents her from fully participating in the traditions of her social standing. Left to wonder if she will ever find love, Belle falls for an idealistic young vicar's son bent on change who, with her help, shapes Lord Mansfield's role as Lord Chief Justice to end slavery in England.
When is it released? Friday 13th June
Why I'm looking forward to it? I'm going to be honest, what was the first and only reason for me to see this was my love for Tom Felton. Since learning more about the film, the costume drama aspects, the story, and the incredible performance of Gugu Mbataha-Raw, this is definitely a must see.
