Can the United Kingdom Ever Do Well In Eurovision?

With a song as beautifully constructed as Molly's Children Of the Universe, I genuinely thought that for once this year the United Kingdom could have pushed past the boundaries of the political voting.

Now there are things that aren't related to the political bullshit in this year's contest;
  • Why the fuck were we left to be after the shit that was San Marino's Valentina (Maybe STFU!)
  • Everyone love's a bearded lady apparently.
  • Unlike the majority of the acts that have the semi-final, this is the first thing Europe see of our acts, not giving them a chance to fall in love with Molly!!
  • Does Europe know we really don't take Eurovision as seriously as they do?? But this year's effort was great, and no we don't take our biggest stars to Eurovision but it's because they don't need to. Eurovision isn't a massive opportunity in the UK like it in other places.
    • Oh wait, is this why? Do they realise that much that we don't give a shit? We just want to win because we're used to winning.
However, we do have to look at the facts;
  • Every country votes for their neighbours. We only have 1, Ireland. Bless 'em.
  • Thinking of politics, we're a powerful country but don't have that intimidation that other countries do with each other. Particularly Russia, but the Eastern Bloc take it so seriously.
  • Other countries, do they see us as buying our way in? Yes we get an automatic ticket, but without our contribution the show CANNOT go on. The Big 5 (or 4 as it was) don't seem to be doing too well since this began.
  • Europe perceive us as a very pushy country. For example everyone speaking our language. It's because it's one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. Speak whatever language for all we care, but there would be a decline in viewership across Europe because English, French, Spanish and German are the most synonymous languages.
  • We're majorly hated for our immigration rules. To us, we have to have limits to prevent what is already a major issue in the UK. With so many immigrants, jobs are being given to them with lower pay, resulting in the British being unable to get a job or getting one where they are expected to be paid so little they can't afford to live.
